The new development features the firm’s innovative approach to interior design and space planning, which focuses on creating functional and comfortable areas that promote the wellbeing of building occupants. Students are offered a choice of 2, 3, or 4-bedroom apartments, and also have a variety of communal study and socialization areas that have been compared to a “boutique hotel.”

In arriving at its latest interior concept, San Diego Office Design used its proprietary think-tank approach, which involves clients in each stage of the creative process. The company also worked with its locally based network of furniture producers to specify a variety of ergonomic and sustainable furniture, resulting in the upscale appearance of many spaces.
Student accommodation brings several unique requirements that differ from regular housing developments, including a combination of private secure spaces and social/communal areas. With greater awareness of student wellness, the latest concepts also aim to provide a safe and nurturing environment.
When developing the new StateSide project, San Diego Office design leveraged experience across multiple sectors, including commercial, residential, senior living, and retail. In doing so, the company introduced modern collaborative working concepts alongside modern private rooms, with the signature feature being a sky deck/sky lounge that has panoramic views over SDSU.
“StateSide offers a California-style living environment that helps students elevate their lifestyle, foster lifelong connections, and make the most of their college years,” a project representative explained. “Residents will enjoy access to our 2, 3, and 4-bedroom apartments featuring modern finishes. When it’s time to focus, our indoor study room is open 24/7. When it’s time to unwind, residents will have access to our rooftop sky lounge and social space.”
